You’ll spend a fair bit of your wedding day with your photographer. It helps if you actually like them!
An engagement/pre-wedding session gives us a chance to meet, have a chat and take some photographs together before you decide whether I’m the person you want there.
It’s also a lovely excuse to spend an hour together somewhere you enjoy, away from the seating plans and the increasingly complicated family group chat.
What do we actually do?
We’ll choose somewhere, go for a walk and stop for photographs along the way. Somewhere that means something to you is always a good starting point, but I’m happy to suggest a few places if you’re stuck.
There’ll be plenty of talking, quite possibly about something completely unrelated to your wedding. I should probably warn you that I can talk for Britain.
I’ll give you a little direction when it helps, so you’re never left wondering what I’m expecting you to do. There’s room to take your time and to settle into the idea of being photographed.
You don’t need to be especially outgoing or comfortable being affectionate in front of someone you’ve just met. The whole idea is to give you space to be unapologetically you.

It’s easy for being engaged to become one long list of things to organise.
But this bit matters too. Before the wedding clothes, the speeches and everyone arriving to celebrate, there’s the two of you, looking forward to it all.
I’d love you to have some photographs of that. Something together that goes a little further than whichever of you has the longest arm holding the phone.

You can look through my galleries and read about how I work, but meeting me gives you a much better idea of whether you’d feel comfortable having me around on your wedding day.
I get to hear about your plans and find out what matters to you both, too.
If you come away wanting me to photograph your wedding, I’d love that. If you decide someone else is a better fit, that’s absolutely fine. The session is still free, the photographs are yours, and there’s no obligation to book.
