Why Flamborough Head is Perfect for a Relaxed Couples Session.

There’s something brilliant about the East Yorkshire coast when it decides to properly show off. On the May bank holiday, the weather gave us exactly what you’d hope for, fresh coastal air and a bit of that classic, wild wind. While there was still a hint of winter in the air, it was the perfect backdrop for Emma and Sam's Flamborough Head engagement in East Yorkshire, a place that always delivers with its huge skies.

It was the perfect excuse to head down to Flamborough Head with Emma and Sam for a completely relaxed engagement session.

Normally, Flamborough would be heaving on a bank holiday, but we waited until just before golden hour so there was only a few people milling around. This allowed us to have a nice wander down the steep path and enjoy the beachside before sunset.

When Emma and Sam said they wanted to do their session at Flamborough, I was all over it.

It’s a spectacular bit of the coastline, and even though it was a bank holiday Monday, we lucked out completely!

The paths were surprisingly quiet, giving us the cliffs almost entirely to ourselves.

Honestly, though? No matter how busy a place is, my approach stays exactly the same.

I’m not about forcing people into stiff, awkward poses or orchestrating "perfect" moments. Instead, we just went for wander along the beachside and I casually asked if Sam was willing to lift Emma.

By focusing in close on the laughs, the shared glances, and the genuine connection between the two of them, just how excited they are for their wedding, the few hours just flew by.

Wrapping Up by the Cars

After battling the wild coastal wind both at the seafront and up on the clifftop, we wrapped up the session by heading back down towards the cars to get a few last shots out of the breeze. It was the perfect, low-key end to a brilliant bank holiday afternoon.

What was meant to be an hour exploring with Emma and Sam turned into two and it just proved yet again that you don't need a perfectly staged backdrop to get photos that feel real. You just need to show up, have a laugh, and let the rest take care of itself.

Fancy a wander by the coast?

If you’re planning an East Yorkshire wedding, or if you just fancy exploring the cliffs for your own relaxed couples session (completely free of awkward constant posing!), I’d love to chat.
